Bangladesh’s Former Public Administration Minister Farhad Hossain on Five-Days Remand
Former Public Administration Minister Farhad Hossain was given a five-day remand by the court to be questioned in the case pertaining to the murder of Rubel, a textile worker in Dhaka’s Shyamoli, during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Sanaullah gave this order. Earlier, the police produced the accused in the court and applied for a seven-day remand.
On Saturday night, an Adabar police station received the arrest of Farhad Hossain by a squad of RAB officers from the Iskaton region of the city.
Rafiqul Islam, Rubel’s father, filed a murder case at the Adabar police station on August 22 against 147 individuals, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
After being shot, Rubel was admitted to the hospital on August 5 in severe condition. Two days later, while receiving treatment, he passed away.
