4 former ministers, 7 people including IGP were arrested
Former minister Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haque Inu, Dr. Dipu Moni, Junaid Ahmed Palak, IGP Abdullah Al Mamun, Journalist Shakeel Ahmed and Farzana Rupa were shown arrested. On Sunday (September 22) morning, when they were brought to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court, they were arrested.
At that time, the police and the state told the court that the accused had directly interfered in suppressing the movement of the students. With their direct support, the police, Awami League and the leaders and activists of the party’s organs and affiliated organizations fired on the students. The court was also informed that the country will become unstable again if the accused get bail.
On the other hand, the lawyers of the accused want bail considering their age and illness. After the hearing, the court denied them bail.
Meanwhile, Salman F Rahman was produced in the court in Doha Police Station’s Explosives Control Act case on Sunday. At this time, his remand application was made. However, as his remand is ongoing in another murder case, the court said that the hearing will be held later.
