However, experts say the condition can be effectively managed through a healthy lifestyle and smart dietary choices.

Indian nutritionist Dr. Archana Batra explains that diabetes management is not just about medication—it’s about choosing foods that help stabilize blood sugar levels and promote overall well-being. She recommends five easy food swaps that can make diabetes control much simpler.

1️⃣ Choose Whole Grains Over Refined Grains:

Instead of white rice, white bread, or regular pasta, opt for brown rice, quinoa, whole-wheat bread, or millets. Whole grains contain fiber that slows the absorption of glucose into the bloodstream, preventing sudden spikes in blood sugar. They also help you feel full for longer and provide essential nutrients.

2️⃣ Replace Sugary Drinks With Infused Water:

Sugary beverages like soft drinks, sweetened tea, or fruit juices are loaded with hidden sugars that can quickly raise blood sugar levels. Swap them for lemon-, cucumber-, or mint-infused water, or drink unsweetened herbal tea. When it comes to fruits, eat whole fruits like apples, oranges, or berries instead of juice, as the fiber helps slow sugar absorption.
