Shab-e-Qadr to be observed tomorrow night in Bangladesh

The holy Shab-e-Qadr also known as Lailatul Qadr (the Night of Decree) on which the first verses of the holy Quran were revealed to Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) will be observed across the country tomorrow night (Saturday).

Muslim devotees will spend the night offering special prayers, reciting the holy Quran, performing zikr and other religious rituals, and seeking Allah’s blessings for long life, peace, and progress for themselves, their families, relatives, friends, as well as the nation and the Muslim Ummah.

On this occasion, President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina greeted their compatriots as well as the Muslim Ummah worldwide. The next day (Sunday) will be a public holiday.

Newspapers will publish special pieces, while state-run Bangladesh Betar, Bangladesh Television and private television channels will air special programs emphasizing the importance of Lailatul Qadr.

According to the holy Quran, one night is better than 1,000 nights since angels and spirits descend there with the permission of Almighty Allah and His decrees.

This is one of the holiest and most blessed evenings, and it is most likely to occur on one of the odd-numbered nights in the last ten days of Ramadan, on the 27th of the holy month.

On this night, devotees typically go to cemeteries in order to offer prayers for the hereafter for their loved ones who have passed away.

For Muslims, the entire month of Ramadan is a time of spiritual training. In addition to fasting, they pray, recite the Holy Quran and give charity.
