Four killed in shooting: US School
The attack happened inside Apalachee School in Winder, Georgia on Wednesday morning (September 4) local time. A local police official said that one of them has been taken into custody as a suspected gunman. His age is said to be 14.
According to reports, lockdown is in force in all schools of the district. Police have been dispatched to all schools on high alert.
Some of the seriously injured have been evacuated by helicopter and additional helicopters are on standby, police said.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) says it has prevented a high school shooting. A suspect has been taken into custody.
Law enforcement agencies are on scene, the GBI said. Please do not attempt to come to school at this time. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp said on social media that agencies are taking action.
US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden have condemned the school shooting. In a statement, the Biden couple said, “We cannot take one incident after another for granted.”
