850 kg of Hilsa was Seized While Being Smuggled into India Through Comilla Border of Bangladesh
850 kg of hilsa fish that were being smuggled into India through the Chanpur Bridge area, which borders the Panchthubi Union of Comilla Sadar Upazila, were confiscated by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
This information was disclosed in the Sunday press statement issued by BGB.
The Comilla Battalion (10 BGB) is alleged to have learned, on the afternoon of September 15, through its own intelligence, that hilsa fish would be illicitly transported into India through the Chanpur Bridge area, which is within the jurisdiction of the Comilla Kotyali Sadar.
The BGB patrol squad at the Cuttack Bazar check post, led by Habildar Jewel, carried out an operation there. In that operation, 850 kg of hilsa fish that were being trafficked from Bangladesh to India were intercepted by the BGB patrol. The seized hilsa is believed to be worth Tk 952,000 on the market.
