Meeting on Democratic Transition in Bangladesh
Touhid Hossain, the foreign adviser for Bangladesh, had a meeting with Richard Rahul Verma, the deputy minister of the US Department of State’s management and resources department. During this meeting, the topic of the US’s involvement in Bangladesh’s peaceful and democratic transition was brought up.
This morning’s meeting took place in New York, outside the UN General Assembly session. The role of the United States in Bangladesh’s economic development was also covered in the discussion.
Tonight the chief adviser is in New York. The encounter took place before to US President Joe Biden and Yunus’s prearranged meeting.
Conversely, Foreign Affairs Advisor Towhid informed the world’s leaders at the Commonwealth Alliance ministerial meeting in New York that “the Rohingya crisis is not only a problem in Bangladesh, but all the problems that the people of Myanmar are suffering from may also spread to the surrounding areas. In this case, the international community needs to take the lead.”
