An Oil Tanker Caught Fire in Bangladesh’s Chittagong Port Today
At the port of Chittagong, an oil tanker caught fire.
Personnel from the Navy, Coast Guard, and Fire Service arrived on the scene promptly after getting the information and put out the fire. As of now, the fire’s origin is unknown.
According to the Chittagong Port Authority, at approximately 11:15 a.m. today, the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation ship “Banglar Jyoti” caught fire at the port’s dolphin jetty.
All vessels and people around the vessel on fire at the scene were evacuated to a safe place and efforts were made to extinguish the fire with the help of the fire service.
After learning of the incident, five tugboats from the port authority and one from the navy reportedly raced to the scene, according to port officials. Plans were in place for the secure evacuation of neighboring boats.
