Tourist Influx in Rangamati Boosts Local Economy
December 12, 2024, Rangamati: Rangamati, also known as the “Lake District” of Bangladesh, is attracting a record number of tourists this season due to its picturesque surroundings and tranquil mood. This charming location, which is tucked away in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, is drawing tourists from all across the nation and beyond because of its distinctive natural and cultural features.
The region’s appeal has been further enhanced by recent developments in road connectivity and tourism amenities, while the Kaptai Lake, hanging bridge, and indigenous markets continue to be the major tourist destinations. Bookings at local hotels, resorts, and tour companies have increased significantly; several are now operating at full capacity.
“This tourism boom is a boon to us,” local boatman Rafiq stated. “More visitors mean more income for us, especially during the peak season.”
But the growing number of visitors also presents problems for environmental sustainability and infrastructure. By introducing eco-friendly procedures and improving tourist amenities, local officials are attempting to control the influx.
In addition to boosting the local economy, Rangamati’s tourism boom is drawing attention to its stunning natural surroundings and rich cultural legacy, making it a must-visit location for tourists.
