Actress Pori Moni Accused of Assaulting Domestic Worker, Claims Blackmail

Bangladeshi actress Pori Moni has been accused of assaulting her domestic worker, Pinky Akter, over feeding her one-year-old child. Following the incident, Pinky filed a general diary (GD) with the Vatara Police Station in Dhaka on Thursday, April 3.

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Vatara Police Station, Md. Mazharul Islam, confirmed the GD and stated that an investigation is underway regarding the allegations of abuse by the actress.

When asked about the accusation, Pori Moni explained that the woman had come to her home seeking work and was crying, explaining that she had no one, was starving with her child, and begged for at least one month’s stay. Pori Moni mentioned that out of sympathy, she allowed the woman to stay, despite her being disabled and unable to perform the work required. Pori Moni added that she told the woman she would not have to do any work, but could play with her children instead.

The actress further revealed that she had received the woman through an agency, and after a few days, she started becoming suspicious of the worker. She said the woman was often on her phone, sending pictures and videos to someone.

Pori Moni stated that the worker frequently caused problems, asking for money, and after a month, when she decided to send the worker away, the woman started crying and blackmailing her. To settle the matter, Pori Moni said she gave the woman a month’s salary of 20,000 BDT, an Eid bonus, a gift, and new clothes.

Pori Moni added that her household relies on domestic workers and that she always treats them with respect. She claimed that no one had ever raised complaints about her staff before, and it seemed suspicious that someone would complain after just four or five days of work. The actress suggested that the worker was very clever and must have someone behind her, urging the authorities to investigate who had sent the woman to her house. Pori Moni hinted that the worker had been speaking with her friends, including someone named Nahid Islam, and sending pictures to various people, adding that a full investigation would reveal the truth.
