Drugs Found in U.S.-Supplied Flour Bags in Gaza, Claims Palestinian Authority

The Palestinian authorities have alleged that prescription drugs were discovered inside bags of flour sent to Gaza as part of U.S. humanitarian aid. The announcement was made on Friday (June 27) by the Government Media Office in Gaza, as reported by Turkey’s Anadolu Agency.

According to the statement, the flour was distributed through aid centers operating under U.S. supervision. Inside some of the flour bags, the authorities reportedly found oxycodone, a powerful prescription painkiller.

The Gaza Media Office expressed concern that the drugs may have been deliberately ground up and mixed with the flour, posing a serious public health threat.

Describing the incident as a “heinous crime,” the statement squarely blamed Israel, alleging that it is part of a broader strategy to spread drug addiction among Palestinians and undermine the fabric of Palestinian society.

“Israel is using drugs as a ‘soft weapon’ in a dirty war against civilians,” the statement said, calling it another component of the ongoing genocide against Palestinians.

Meanwhile, Israel has announced plans to establish four aid distribution centers in southern and central Gaza, a move widely seen as an effort to force the displacement of residents from northern Gaza. The United Nations and the international community have strongly opposed this initiative, viewing it as an attempt to bypass UN-led humanitarian aid mechanisms.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, Israeli attacks around aid centers and UN food trucks have killed at least 549 Palestinians and injured over 4,000 since May 27. Since the beginning of the war in October 2023, over 56,300 Palestinians—mostly women and children—have reportedly been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza.

In addition, the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
