The Neymar trial ends when Spanish prosecutors withdraws their charges.

The firm that had accused Neymar of fraud and corruption reduced the prison sentence it had requested for the player’s alleged role in irregularities relating to his 2013 transfer from Santos to Barcelona as the trial came to an end on Monday.

Three days prior to the trial’s completion, Neymar, his father, and the previous executives of the Brazilian and Spanish clubs were not charged by Spain’s state prosecutor.

The Brazilian business DIS persisted in its accusations, but it now demanded a two and a half-year prison sentence for Neymar and a four-year penalty for the player’s father, who is also his agent.

At first, DIS requested five-year prison sentences for Neymar, 30, his father, and former Barcelona executives Josep Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell.

Additionally, DIS demands that the guilty pay the Spanish government a punishment of 195 million euros and 34 million euros ($33.6 million) in compensation.

Neymar was first targeted by the prosecution for a two-year prison term and a ten million euro fine. He also wanted Odilio Rodrigues, the previous president of Santos, to serve three years and Rosell, five years.

As a co-owner of Neymar’s playing rights, DIS asserts that it was paid far less than the 40% it is owed. The business said that although the actual cost was closer to 82 million euros, it only got its share from the 17 million euros that Barcelona and Santos first declared as the transfer fee between the teams.

Neymar and his father were labeled traitors by DIS on Monday for their attempts to conceal the transfer’s value. It expressed regret over the prosecutor’s choice to drop Neymar’s charges.

Every defendant has refuted any misconduct.

It will take at least three weeks for a verdict and sentence to be rendered.
