Brazilian football great Pelé’s daughter allays concerns about his hospitalization by clarifying that it’s not an emergency.
Brazilian football legend Pelé has been hospitalized for treatment due to an ongoing medical condition.
His daughter Kely Nascimento confirmed on Instagram that Pelé’s health has deteriorated and that he is not rushing to a flight to get there.
Pelé has been hospitalized at Albert Einstein Hospital in central São Paulo for a re-evaluation of chemotherapy treatment over colon cancer identified in September 2021.
The hospital confirmed that Pelé is in stable clinical condition and is in full control of his living functions.
In December 2021, Pelé underwent chemotherapy treatment and surgery to remove a tumor from his right colon.
Pelé is widely considered one of the greatest soccer players in history, having played in four World Cups, winning three (1958, 1962, 1970) and scoring 12 goals in 14 games. He scored 1,281 goals in his professional career in 1,363 games.
