According to a research, sexual harassment is rampant in the Australian Parliament.

According to a report released on Tuesday, which was the result of an independent investigation into the workplace culture of parliamentarians, one in three employees in Australia’s parliament has been the victim of sexual harassment.

In response to criticism directed towards his party for the way it handled an alleged rape within the premises, Prime Minister Scott Morrison ordered the study in February.

Over half of the respondents to the review reported having at least one episode with sexual harassment, bullying, or actual or attempted sexual assault.

The review revealed pervasive unlawful behavior. The report included 28 recommendations, including the establishment of a new human resources office to handle complaints, new drinking restrictions, and a greater gender balance among members and staff. It also called on Parliament to clean up its act.

Morrison faces pressure to alter the culture of parliament before the first half of next year’s election.
