After a three-day manhunt and shooting in Colorado, investigators say the suspect was apprehended.
Authorities, a suspect is being held in relation to a shooting incident that occurred in a remote area of Colorado and left three people dead and one critically injured.
After a day-long manhunt, the suspect whom the police have named as Westcliffe resident Hammer K. Clark, 45 was apprehended. The Custer County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday afternoon that the New Mexico State Police had taken him into custody.
The Custer County Sheriff’s Office reports that the shooting took place near a property line in the wooded area in Custer County as a result of a property dispute.
A report of shots fired prompted law officers to arrive on the area on Monday at around 1 p.m. local time, officials.
The sheriff’s office, three people two men and a woman had been shot and died, while another lady was critically injured but is expected to live.
The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office stated that an arrest warrant had been issued for Clark on three counts of first-degree murder.
The sheriff’s office, officers were looking for a white Ram 1500 pickup connected to the suspect during the manhunt.
The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office said that the car was seen at a Saluda Wal-Mart after the incident. The driver made multiple purchases at the Wal-Mart before driving off in the direction of the Methodist Mountain residential area, a statement from the sheriff’s office.
Custer and Chaffee counties that had shelter-in-place orders in place while the suspect was being searched have since had them lifted.
