Amid the winter vaccination warning, hospitalized flu cases in the United States are at an all-time high.

While hospitalizations from the flu are at an all-time high, experts caution that other Covid strains and respiratory diseases are on the rise. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), hospitalizations, fatalities, and illnesses connected to the flu are all at a ten-year high. Adults over 65 and small children are the groups most affected.

As the weekend approached, there had been at least 1,600,000 cases documented, 13,000 hospital admissions, and 730 flu-related deaths—a larger number than is typically seen at this time of year.

The hospitals, under pressure from more admissions, are advising the public to get their winter immunizations in order to reduce the incidence of critical infections.
