Apple Fitness+ Gets a Price Drop and New Features Focused on Customization

Apple announced today that their fitness subscription service, Apple Fitness+, is getting a price reduction and a refresh focused on user customization.

The monthly subscription fee will now be $9.99, down from $12.99, and $79.99 annually, down from $99.99. This move makes Apple Fitness+ more competitive with other fitness streaming services.

In addition to the price drop, Apple Fitness+ is introducing new features that allow users to personalize their workout experience. These include:

  • Customizable Activity Rings: Users can now choose which metrics to display on their Apple Watch Activity rings, such as Move Minutes, Exercise Minutes, Stand Hours, or even new health metrics like blood oxygen or sleep.
  • Smart Stack and Photos Integration: The Apple Watch’s Smart Stack and Photos faces will now use machine learning to suggest workouts and fitness content based on the user’s activity history and preferences.

These changes come alongside the recent release of watchOS 11, which introduced new health and fitness features like the Vitals app and training load metrics. Apple seems to be doubling down on their commitment to providing a comprehensive and personalized fitness experience for Apple Watch users.

It will be interesting to see how these changes impact user adoption of Apple Fitness+. The lower price point and increased customization options could make it a more attractive option for people looking for a convenient and engaging way to work out at home.
