Attack on Rokeya Prachi at Dhanmondi 32, in Dhaka
There are multiple reports of an attack on Rokeya Prachi at Dhanmondi 32. Actress Rokeya Prachi was present at the scene and was reportedly assaulted during the incident.
Some reports indicate that a group of young men with sticks attacked the crowd that had gathered to pay tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Others mention that the attackers were affiliated with BNP politics.
While lighting the candle, Rokeya Prachi said, “We are all gathered here today, because our Bangladesh has been burnt. We came together because our 1971 burned. We are gathered here, because our effigies of Bangabandhu has been burnt. We are not here to talk politics. Bangladesh belongs to all of us. We are here to mourn peacefully. We respect Bangabandhu. He gave us this Bangladesh, he gave us the constitution. It felt like we burned. We stand at this Dhanmondi 32 asking for forgiveness from this great hero of the world. we are ashamed the Bengali nation is ashamed today.”
After the incident of the attack, it was seen that barricades have been installed at the junction of Mirpur Road in Dhanmondi 32. Some members of the army have taken position inside the barricade. Some people are standing on the main road.
