Bangladesh Assures Full Cooperation to The United Nations
Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said yesterday following a meeting with a visiting UN delegation at the Secretariat that, Bangladesh is committed to providing full cooperation to the United Nations.
Arriving in Bangladesh on August 22, the three-person team was headed by Rory Mungoven, Chief of the Asia-Pacific Section of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), with the goal of looking into human. The home advisor asked the UN to take into consideration sending additional Bangladeshi soldiers, police officers, and other troops on UN peacekeeping missions during the discussion.
Positive remarks were made by Rory Mungoven, who stated, “We are in Bangladesh to discuss how the UN could conduct an investigation and fact-finding mission regarding the events of the past two months, as requested by the interim government.”
As we approach the midway point of our tour, the conversations have been nothing but pleasant. At the Secretariat, Mungoven told reporters, “We want to support the people and students of Bangladesh as best we can because we are inspired by their efforts.”
