Schools and colleges is closed in Bangladesh due to heatwave.
Bangladesh has decided to close primary and secondary schools for seven days from April 21 to April 27 as a heatwave hits the nation.
Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin, senior information officer at the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, said on Saturday that all government primary schools, Child Welfare Trust schools and non-formal learning centers will be closed. He said that the decision was taken with student’s health and safety in mind.
The government closed primary and secondary schools for several days in June last year due to the intense heat. An organization of parents and guardians of school students had previously demanded a seven-day close.
Public health specialists have suggested that educational facilities be closed. On Saturday, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education issued a directive prohibiting schools from holding assemblies in the scorching heat.
