Bangladesh Launches First Robotic Rehab Center at BMU
For the first time in Bangladesh, a robotic technology-based rehabilitation service has been launched. Starting on July 10 (Thursday), this advanced service is now available at the Super Specialized Hospital of Bangladesh Medical University (BMU), located in Shahbagh, Dhaka.
Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Advisor to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, announced the launch in a verified social media post. He stated that this rehabilitation center, established with technical support from China, has been inaugurated as a pilot project.
The center is equipped with 62 state-of-the-art robots, 22 of which are powered by artificial intelligence (AI). These robots are designed to provide precise and personalized therapy for patients suffering from paralysis, neurological disorders, post-accident trauma, and long-term physical rehabilitation needs.

Stroke and paralysis patients, in particular, are expected to benefit significantly from the service. The post also mentioned that victims injured during the July Movement will receive free treatment at the center.
This marks a groundbreaking step in the field of rehabilitation medicine in Bangladesh, with expectations that the robotic rehab center will open a new chapter in advanced patient care.
