Bangladesh Ranks 84th in Global Hunger Index
Bangladesh has been ranked 84th among 127 countries in the Global Hunger Index this year with a score of 19.4, three notches down from last year’s 81st position. However, the latest index shows Bangladesh is one of few countries that made notable improvement in fighting hunger since 2016.
The GHI measures hunger levels based on three indicators: undernourishment, child wasting and child stunting. A lower GHI score indicates a lower level of hunger.
Despite the improvement, Bangladesh still faces significant challenges in addressing hunger and malnutrition. The country’s progress has been hampered by factors such as poverty, inequality and climate change. The government of Bangladesh has implemented various programs to combat hunger, including food distribution, nutrition education and agricultural development. However, more needs to be done to ensure that all citizens have access to adequate food and nutrition.
