Bangladesh Unveils Women’s T20 World Cup Squad in a Unique Announcement
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup. Senior cricketer Jahanara Alam has got a place in the announced team with Negara Sultana Jyoti as its captain.
On Wednesday (September 18), the BCB announced the names of the cricketers who got a chance in the women’s T20 World Cup squad in a different manner on their social media page. Where the expatriate Bengalis announced the squad of the Bangladesh team. Canada, South Africa, United States, Malaysia, Sweden and other countries of the world expatriates congratulated Niger-Jahanarad and announced the team.
At the end of the video message, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, the captain of the Bangladesh men’s cricket team, expressed good wishes. As usual, Nigar Sultana Jyoti will lead the tournament. There are also experienced people like Nahida-Jahanarad. This year’s women’s T20 World Cup was supposed to be held in Bangladesh. But due to political unrest, the ICC moved the tournament from here to the Emirates.
The Women’s T20 World Cup will kick off with the Bangladesh-Scotland match on October 3. Besides the venue, the ICC has also made a change in the schedule. The Bangladesh-England match was scheduled to take place on October 5 at 4 pm. It will be changed to the field at 8 pm. And on the same day Australia-Sri Lanka match will be changed from 8 pm to 4 pm. Both matches will be played in Sharjah. The entire tournament will be held in Dubai and Sharjah. Group stage games will end on October 15. After that, two semi-finals will be played on October 17 and 18. And the final will be on October 20.
