BTRC Working to Reduce Internet Prices, Says Chairman
In a recent statement, the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) announced ongoing efforts to lower internet prices across Bangladesh. BTRC Chairman Major General (Retd.) Emdadul Bari revealed that the commission is actively engaging with internet service providers to explore viable ways to make internet access more affordable and accessible for all citizens.
According to the chairman, reducing internet costs is crucial for improving digital literacy, expanding access to online education, and fostering economic growth, especially as more citizens rely on the internet for work and education. The BTRC has outlined plans to address issues related to broadband and mobile data costs, aiming to create a fair and transparent pricing structure.
The chairman emphasized that lowering internet prices aligns with the government’s vision of a “Digital Bangladesh,” aiming to bridge the digital divide and ensure equitable access to online services.
