Case Filed Against Former MP Barrister Sumon in Habiganj
A new legal case has been filed against former Member of Parliament (MP) Barrister Sumon in Habiganj, Bangladesh. A case has been filed against more than 150 leaders and activists of Awami League and organizations, including former member of parliament, Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Sumon, on the charge of ordering the attack on the anti-discrimination movement’s students. On Wednesday (September 11), the case was filed at Chunarughat police station by upazila youth party joint convener Nasir Uddin.
Barrister Sumon and 98 others have been named as unknown accused in the case. It was alleged in the case that on July 16, under the banner of the anti-discrimination student movement, the students and the crowd came to Shaestaganj New Bridge Roundabout area under Chunarughat police station. At around 4:30 pm on the orders of Barrister Suman, the accused attacked the students by throwing brickbats and using indigenous weapons. In this, many people of various classes and professions, including the leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement, were seriously injured.
In this regard, Chunarughat Police Station OC Hillol Roy said that the case was recorded on Wednesday morning. Awami League leaders at various levels were accused in the case. Police will investigate the case and take necessary action.
