Chief quits after raft of thefts rock British Museum

After acknowledging that the renowned organization did not respond as comprehensively as it should have in response to warnings” concerning stolen artifacts, the director of the British Museum resigned. 

A police inquiry and the expulsion of a staff member followed the discovery last week that part of the museum’s collection was missing stolen or damaged which led Hartwig Fischer to leave the establishment.

The lost riches include gold jewelry and jewels dating from over three and a half thousand years ago until the end of the nineteenth century.
