Dhaka University’s Decision Not to keep Public Rooms
The management of Dhaka University (DU) has made the decision to remove common rooms from every residence hall.
The vice chancellor of the university, professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan chaired the Provost Standing Committee meeting that took place. At the meeting, it was decided to do away with the common room and use the hall’s games area for coeducational events. All former students who have passed the Masters test and are in the 2017–18 entrance cycle will vacate the hall by September 30.
This resolution was decided upon during the University’s Provost Standing Committee meeting on Monday, September 9, as stated in a statement that was signed by Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, the deputy director of public relations.
Another topic of discussion was the commencement of university classes from September 22. Provosts have been directed to take the appropriate action in this respect.
