Dr. Yunus arrived in New York today
Dr. Muhammad Yunus is a Nobel laureate and Chief Adviser of Bangladesh’s interim government, arrived in New York on September 23, 2024. His visit marks his participation in the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). During his stay, Yunus is expected to hold significant bilateral meetings, including one with U.S. President Joe Biden on September 24. This is a notable event, as it is the first time in decades that a Bangladeshi head of government will hold a bilateral meeting with a U.S. president.
Yunus will also address the UNGA on September 27, focusing on global themes such as peace, sustainable development, and human dignity. Additionally, he is set to attend high-level meetings with other world leaders, including the prime ministers of Pakistan and Nepal, and participate in discussions on critical issues such as the Rohingya crisis and economic reforms for Bangladesh.
