Due to Load Shedding, the Production of Gas Based Generation Plants is Decreasing
A growing number of load shedding events are occurring nationwide as a result of inadequate electricity output in gas-based facilities.
In the intense heat, several Dhaka neighborhoods have experienced multiple power disruptions. Due to power outage water shortage has occurred in various areas. According to BPDB authorities, there is not enough gas available for the gas-based power plants to produce energy.
Data from the BPDB indicates that the shortage of gas supply at several plants prevents 4,169 MW of power from being generated.
Despite repeated pleas from the government, Summit Group is unable to begin operations at its LNG facility, according to Petrobangla authorities. As a result, fewer than 500 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) of gas are imported and supplied to the national grid.
The nation has generated 2,609.4 MMcfd of gas against a demand of almost 4,000 MMcfd, according to figures.
