Erling Haaland scores his second hat-trick of the week against City, shattering the Premier League goalscoring record in the process.

Erling Haaland, 22, completed his sixth hat-trick of the season in the 32nd and 35th minutes with goals that were emblematic of his game.

Unstoppable Erling Haaland broke beyond the 40-goal mark in his debut season with Manchester City on Saturday, scoring a hat-trick as his team defeated Burnley 6-0 in the FA Cup quarterfinals.

In a game against Burnley, Norwegian forward Haaland scored his first goal for City and his sixth hat-trick of the year. The 22-year-old scored in the thirty-two and thirty-five minutes, and he finished with a hat-trick shortly before the hour. He joined City from Borussia Dortmund in June of last year, and since then, he has scored an incredible 42 goals. Cole Palmer scored twice in between, while Julian Alvarez also scored twice.

Haaland has joined Cristiano Ronaldo, Andy Cole, Harry Kane, Mohamed Salah, Ruud van Nistelrooy, and Mohamed Salah as the sixth player in Premier League history to score at least 40 goals in all competitions in a season. He will probably surpass 50 goals before long because City is still playing in three different leagues. Alan Shearer, the record goal scorer in the Premier League, described Haaland as a beast and a goal machine.

For the first thirty minutes, Burnley had held their own against City, but Haaland’s goal—a low cross from Phil Foden—broke the tie. Palmer’s goal completed a fantastic day for City, while Alvarez also looked impressive in taking his goals.

The three other FA Cup sixth-round ties take place on Sunday, with Manchester United at home to Fulham, Sheffield United hosting Blackburn Rovers, and Brighton and Hove Albion welcoming Grimsby Town.
