Feni Devastated by Severe Flooding as Water Levels Surge
Heavy rains and uphill landslides have worsened the flood situation in Feni Area. 13 seats of the danger zone are flowing with 90 cm of water. Flood situation worsens in Feni, 2 lakhs stuck in water.
It is known that the last three days of continuous rains and landslides from upstream India have caused this humanitarian disaster.
It has been reported that since Monday night, the floodwaters have damaged power lines, leading to widespread power outages in most areas of the Parshuram, Fulgazi, and Chhagalnaiya Upazilas. Out of the 400,000 customers in the district, over 300,000 are currently without electricity. Feni Electricity Development Board Executive Engineer Hossain Mahmud Shamim Farhad said, ‘About 70 percent of our customers are without electricity.
In various areas of the city, It meters have been damaged due to water entering the ground floor of the buildings, so the electricity connection will remain off until the water recedes. Connectivity is unlikely to be restored before the flood waters recede.
