First monkeypox case detected in Sri Lanka

The first case of monkeypox in Sri Lanka was reported by the health ministry on Friday, following the arrival of an infected patient from Dubai.

According to the ministry, the first patient was a young person of 20 who arrived from Dubai on November 1.

According to local media, he is currently being treated at the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH), which is located outside of the capital city of Colombo.

The government declared that it would intensify efforts to find any potential infected patients and would keep an eye on the entry of foreign visitors and local residents.
