First phase of Bishwa Ijtema ends at Tongi, Dhaka
57th Bishwa Ijtema ended on Sunday.
The first phase of the three-days 57th Bishwa Ijtema ended on Sunday with Akheri Munajat.Maulana Hafez Zobair Ahmad, leader of Bangladesh Tabligh Jamaat and head imam of Kakrail Jame Masjid in Dhaka, conducted the prayer from 9am to 9:23am.
Amidst various challenges, including cold and rain, hundreds of thousands of Muslim devotees have gathered from around the world at Ijtema grounds to take part in the Tabligh Jamaat-organised event, the second-largest Muslim congregation globally. People from various countries, including India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Europe, America, and Africa, have gathered for the Ijtema.
The Tabligh Jamaat has been hosting the Bishwa Ijtema at Tongi since 1967 and introduced the phase system in 2011 to better manage the growing number of participants.
For security, approximately 15,000 law enforcement officials are on duty at the Ijtema grounds and the surrounding vicinity, supplemented by undercover police and intelligence personnel.The second phase of Ijtema will be held from February 9-11 this year.
