Guptill said goodbye to international cricket.

Finally, Martin Guptill, the former New Zealand opener and owner of the highest individual innings in World Cup cricket, officially ended his long journey in the jersey in the country. Guptill was emotional at the retirement announcement. He said, “I have always dreamed of playing in the New Zealand jersey since I was a teenager. I am very lucky and proud to have played 367 international matches for my country. He also said that I will always remember the memory of wearing the Silver Ferns jersey with a great team. I want to thank my teammates, coaching staff. Especially to Mark O’Donnell, who coached me at Under 19 level and supported me later in my career.

The 38-year-old cricketer also acknowledged the sacrifice of his wife and children during the farewell. Thanks to my wife Laura and two children Harley and Teddy. Laura has sacrificed so much for me and my family. You have been my biggest supporter, precious gem and mentor through every ups and downs. For which I am very grateful. Thanks also to the cricket fans who have supported us over the years in New Zealand and around the world.

Guptill has played 198 ODIs, 122 T20Is and 47 Tests for the country. He has 13 thousand 463 runs in the international arena in three formats. He has 76 fifties with 23 centuries. He has the highest innings in ODI World Cup. He played an unbeaten innings of 237 runs against West Indies in 2015 World Cup. The opener last played T20 against Bangladesh in October 2022 for the country. He did not enter the field after that. Seeing the possibility of getting a call in the future, he said goodbye to international cricket. Incidentally, despite saying goodbye to international cricket, Guptill will play domestic and franchise cricket for a few more days.
