Heatwaves in Bangladesh is going high day by day

Dhaka, Bangladesh – As April draws to a close, Bangladesh is preparing for an intense heatwave expected to grip the nation in the coming days. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a heatwave warning, cautioning citizens to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.

With temperatures soaring well above the seasonal average, meteorologists forecast that the mercury could reach as high as 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) in some parts of the country, particularly in the central and northern regions. This sudden spike in temperatures is attributed to a combination of factors, including the absence of significant rainfall and the influence of hot, dry winds blowing from neighboring regions.

In response to the impending heatwave, authorities have advised citizens to stay indoors during the peak hours of the day, typically between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., when the sun’s intensity is at its highest. They have also urged people to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

The elderly, children, and individuals with pre-existing health conditions are especially vulnerable to the adverse effects of extreme heat, prompting calls for increased vigilance and community support to ensure their well-being during this period.

The heatwave is expected to persist for several days, posing significant challenges to agriculture, public health, and everyday life in Bangladesh. As the nation braces itself for scorching temperatures, efforts to raise awareness about heatwave safety measures and community support initiatives are underway to minimize the impact of the extreme weather conditions on vulnerable populations.
