In the World Cup Qualifications, Brazil Suffered Another Defeat
Brazil’s victory over Ecuador in the previous game demonstrated the prospect of ending the trying time. However, Dorival Junior’s crew once more gave up after four days. In a dismal effort, the five-time world champion record team fell to Paraguay.
On Wednesday morning, Brazil was defeated 1-0 in the South American qualification for the 2026 World Cup. Diego Gomez gave the home team the victory.
In the 20th minute of the first half, the home team scored. Gomez received the ball outside the defensive end after Gabriel Heade cleared it. Nobody halted him in that manner. That time, he advanced the ball to a good spot and struck the far post with a powerful shot to find the net.
But in the 25th minute, Brazil came dangerously close to tying the score. On Vinicius’ cutback, Guilherme Arana received the ball in the D-box and attempted an unguarded shot at the far post. Goalie Gatito Fernandez of Paraguay had no choice but to accept the ball back from the goal line by defender Junior Alonso.
Brazil has slipped to fifth place in the qualifying points standings with three victories in eight games and ten points from one tie. Paraguay scored nine points in the match that was tied. Despite losing to Colombia in the round’s opening game, Argentina held the top rank. They received eighteen points for their efforts. At 16 points, Colombia is in second place.
