One Bangladeshi person died in Malaysia.

The expatriate Pabna died in Malaysia from malnourishment and inadequate medical care. Shafiqul Islam was 33 years old. Shafiqul spent millions of taka traveling to Malaysia on a work visa through a recruiting firm called Unique on August 5th of the same year hoping  for a better life at a construction company called Petra Zehra Berhad.

Shafiqul was forced to endure a horrific existence for nearly five months without work because of starvation and a lack of medical care. Shafiqul passed away on Friday, March 1, at 9:30 a.m.

Unnamed eyewitness claimed he was ill and received no medical attention. Like he did every day, he went to bed at night and didn’t wake up.

Shafiqul and seventy-one Bangladeshis arrived in Malaysia to work for this business. While some of them sold land and gave the brokers the proceeds others took out high-interest loans. The brokers assured them potential positions in Malaysian construction paying between 70,000Tk and 80,000Tk per month.

Not long after arriving in Malaysia, their hopes were dashed. Due to malnourishment and lack of medical attention, these foreign workers have been enduring horrific lives for nearly five months. You must have been the sufferer of both physical and psychological torture in order to file a complaint of suffering. The rest of the Bangladeshis who are still there are in poor health as well. They are afraid and panicked for a while.
The men working for the employer often torture these foreigners. Some people arrived in Malaysia on October 5th but they still don’t have a passport or a job.

A few of them have lodged complaints about their lack of employment with the Bangladesh High Commission in Malaysia. The High Commission was unable to reach a definitive decision in spite of the guarantee.

Syed Shariful Islam, the Labor Councilor of the Bangladesh High Commission in Malaysia stated as We have already taken action against Petra Zehra Berhad Company in response to several complaints. The High Commission has implemented measures to hinder this company’s ability to hire further personnel in the future. He added that the High Commission is trying to find solutions for the issues facing workers who haven’t been able to find employment.

The Labor Councilor stated that the High Commission is attempting to use the enterprise to transport the deceased Shafiqul Islam’s remains into the nation. The official added that his family will receive payment for entering the country lawfully at the same time.

Iftekar is a Bangladeshi employee of Petra Zehra Berhad Corporation. The company also offered quality meals, he continued thus the complaints made by the victims were unfounded. A five-month delay was necessary because of tax issues. All of them would receive visas and the issue will be rectified in four or five months.
