Interim Government Md. Yunus’s Cost Saving in Padma Bridge Project is Tk 1835 Crore
Perhaps the Padma Bridge might have been completed at a far cheaper cost if there had been a good administration. By using the Chief Advisor’s cost-cutting strategy, the Padma Bridge’s construction costs have been decreased. According to Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan, advisor to the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges of the Interim Government, this has saved 1,835 crore TK for the construction of bridges.
He said, “Taka 530 crore for the main bridge, Taka 80 crore for the river management, and Taka 178 crore for the connecting road and service area” as the amount of money that was saved. 500 crore for price contingency, 103 crore for land purchase, 200 crore for consultation, and 244 crore for miscellaneous expenses. Perhaps the Padma Bridge might have been completed at a far lesser cost if we had a strong administration in place.
According to Fawzul Kabir, the Padma Bridge project was originally anticipated to cost 32,000 605 crore 52 million taka. After implementing the cost-cutting measures, the total cost has dropped to 30,770 crore 14 lakh taka. Here, 1,835 crore rupees have been spared.
In all cases the directive to cut costs came from the chief adviser. We have decided in the Ministries that we will reduce the expenditure, as a result of which we will be able to implement more projects with the same money, more projects will be implemented with the same money.
