It rained darkly around in Bangladesh, the effect of cyclone Dana began.
Cyclone ‘Dana’, located in East-Central Bay of Bengal and adjoining West-Central Bay of Bengal, moved further north-northwestward and intensified into a severe cyclone in the same area.
If the movement remains unchanged, the cyclone is likely to make landfall between Puri in Odisha, India and Sagar Dwip in West Bengal between 6pm on Thursday (October 24) and 6am tomorrow on Friday. Meanwhile, the sky of the capital Dhaka was cloudy since morning due to the impact of grains. It has been raining with gales since noon.
Heavy rain has started in Dhamra since midnight on October 23, accompanied by gale force winds. Evacuation of workers from Dhamra Port has started to deal with the situation. The administration is conducting a warning campaign by miking on the beach of Dhamra. Besides, the locals have been requested to leave the area. Various fishing boats are tied up in the port. No boat is going to sea now. The wind has started to blow at a strong speed, the triplets are flying. All shops have been removed from the beach front.
Odisha administration is taking steps to deal with the impact of Cyclone Dana. They have plans to evacuate at least one million residents from 14 districts to safe shelters to escape the danger. Such work has also started.
Puri is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Odisha. Tourists were asked to leave Puri before October 23 to avoid the impact of the cyclone. It has also been advised not to go to Puri on October 24 and 25.
