Karachi Jolted by Six Earthquakes in 24 Hours, Residents Panic
In a rare and unsettling series of seismic events, Pakistan’s bustling port city of Karachi experienced six earthquakes within a single day, leaving residents in a state of fear and uncertainty.
The tremors began early Sunday morning, with the first quake striking at 10:25 AM, followed by another just 40 minutes later. Over the next several hours, four more earthquakes shook the city, the last occurring at 1:06 AM Monday. Neighborhoods across Karachi, including Landhi, Malir, Quaidabad, Gulshan-e-Johar, Khokhrapar, and Steel Town, felt the tremors.
Senior seismologist Amir Haider from the Pakistan Seismology Center (PSC) confirmed that the strongest quake measured 3.6 on the Richter scale, while the weakest was recorded at 3.2. All the tremors originated near Quaidabad, with depths ranging between 10 and 12 kilometers below the earth’s surface.
Experts attribute the seismic activity to the Landhi fault line, but Haider noted that experiencing six earthquakes in a single day is highly unusual. “While Karachi has seen minor quakes before, this level of frequency within 24 hours is concerning,” he stated.

Despite the panic that swept through the city, no major damage or casualties have been reported. However, the repeated tremors have heightened fears among residents, with many wondering whether a larger earthquake could follow.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation while urging Karachi’s citizens to stay cautious and prepared.
