Malaysia to Publicly Support Bangladesh’s Bid for ASEAN Membership: High Commissioner

Haznah Md Hashim, the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Bangladesh, announced today that her nation will back Bangladesh’s bid to join the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

She was speaking at a seminar on “Bangladesh-Malaysia Relations: Moving Towards Prosperity” that was hosted in the campus auditorium of the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) on Elephant Road in Capital.

She mentioned that Malaysia will “openly support” Bangladesh’s desire for ASEAN membership, citing her interaction with the main adviser on the matter.

All ten of the nations enjoy equal position under the ASEAN framework, and no one can rule out any reservation.
