Massive Traffic Jam on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway: Heavy Rain and Flooding Cause Major Problem

There is currently a severe traffic jam on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, particularly affecting the Chittagong-bound lane. The congestion, which began on August 21. It has stretched approximately 8.5 kilometers from the Signboard area in Narayanganj to Madanpur.

The traffic jam is primarily due to an overturned covered van in the Langalbandh area of Sonargaon, which has since been cleared, but the traffic is still moving slowly. Heavy rain has also contributed to the situation, making the road conditions challenging for drivers and passengers, some of whom have been stuck for hours and are opting to walk to their destinations instead.

Additionally, another section of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway is experiencing flooding, resulting in a 5-kilometer-long traffic jam. The area from Nabagram road head to Chauddagram bazar has been inundated with knee-deep water, further slowing down vehicle movement. The traffic is not expected to clear up soon, as the water levels remain high and more rain is predicted.
