Multiple Deaths in School Bus Fire in Thailand

Up to 25 people are thought dead from a Thai bus that was carrying 44 students and teachers on a field trip today, according to officials. Around 12:30 pm, a tire broke on a highway in a suburb of northern Bangkok, causing the bus to crash into a barrier and catch fire.

Although the exact death toll was unknown, Transport Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit stated that 25 persons were missing following the fire. “We had to extricate some quite little corpses. They had to have been rather young. Doctors tending to the youngsters told local media that several of the children who managed to escape had horrible burns to their faces, mouths, and eyes.

38 children and 6 teachers make up the 44 people on board, according to early accounts. As of right now, sixteen kids and three teachers have left.

Thailand has one of the lowest records for road safety in the world; the high yearly death toll is largely caused by unsafe cars and careless driving. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 20,000 people die on the kingdom’s roadways annually, or more than 50 every day on average.
