Over 200 Arrested in Ukraine Protests Throughout Russia

An NGO said that 211 persons were detained by Russian authorities on Saturday during demonstrations against Moscow’s military action in Ukraine.

At least 211 persons were held by police during protests in 17 Russian towns, according to OVD-Info, an organization that keeps track of arrests made during protests.

A journalist for AFP saw more than twenty individuals being held by riot police in Zaryadye, the central park of the city, near the Kremlin, while there was a lot of snow falling.

According to the reporter, police hauled away those who were standing around or seated on park chairs without providing an explanation for their detention.

As she was being hauled away, one of the arrested women repeatedly yelled, “No to war in Ukraine!” while holding a bunch of white tulips.
