Palak detained at the airport in Bangladesh
Junaid Ahmed Palak, a member of the recently dissolved 12th National Parliament and Minister of State for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ICT) in the Sheikh Hasina government has been detained from Dhaka’s Shahajalal International Airport. He was arrested from the airport’s VIP lounge around 3pm on Tuesday (06 August).
It is reported that he was waiting there to escape to Delhi, the capital of India. Airport staff then detained him in the VIP lounge. After a while, Air Force officials came and arrested him. Official sources of the Civil Aviation Authority (BABIC) informed this information.
Sheikh Hasina resigned yesterday in the face of the student uprising and fled the country. Since then there was no trace of Palak, State Minister for ICT in his government. There were many rumors about whether he is in the country or has fled abroad.
In the meantime, Palak’s house was attacked at Singra in Natore last night. In the afternoon his house was set on fire by an angry mob. Looting was also carried out in his house.
Palak faced a lot of criticism on social media by commenting on the shutdown of the internet and various related issues in the recent violence.
