Production Started at the Third unit of Barapukuria Power Plant in Bangladesh

At Parvatipur in Dinajpur, the third unit of the 275 MW Barapukuria coal-fired power plant has begun to produce electricity.

A technical malfunction forced the unit to shut down for six days, but on Sunday afternoon it started producing power again.

“Power generation resumed in the third unit on Sunday around 2 pm,” said Abu Bakar Siddique, Chief Engineer of the Barapukuria 525 MW Power Plant. Currently, the power plant feeds the national grid with 220 MW of electricity.

Prior to this, the 125 MW power plant’s first unit was turned on last Thursday, contributing roughly 65 MW of new electricity to the national grid.

Approximately 285 MW of electricity are currently being provided to the national grid from the two operational units, according to the chief engineer.

A technical issue forced the third unit to be shut down on September 9th, in the evening.
