Rally in Baghdad on the anniversary of the passing of an Iranian general
On Saturday, hundreds of demonstrators gathered in the Iraqi capital, chanting anti-American phrases, to commemorate the anniversary of the U.S. drone strike that killed a senior Iraqi militia leader and a strong Iranian general.
During the commemorative event honoring the airstrike at Baghdad airport, the audience demanded the withdrawal of all remaining American forces from Iraq. The attack claimed the lives of Abu Mandy al-Mohandas, the deputy commander of the Popular Mobilization Forces, an Iranian-backed militia in Iraq, and General Qassim Suleiman, the commander of Iran’s special Quads Force.
Some of the signs said, “We will not let you stay after today on in the land of the martyrs.” There were Israeli and American flags all over the place, and people were stepping on them.
