Saaf Champion Women Return Home to a Hero’s Welcome

The wait is over. Bangladesh women’s football team, which has achieved excellence in South Asian football, finally set foot in Dhaka. The plane carrying the champions landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday (October 31) at 2.30 pm.

This is the second title in a row for unbeaten champions Bangladesh. In 2022, where a new story was written, Bangladesh again wrote a new chapter of the story at the Dashrath Rangshala Stadium in Nepal. Bangladesh beat hosts Nepal 2-1 in Wednesday’s final. Monika Chakma and Rituparna Chakma scored for Bangladesh. Bangladesh won the title for the first time by defeating Nepal in the final of the last season as well.

South Asia maintained its supremacy as the second team after India. The players will be brought to the Bangladesh Football Federation (BAFFE) building by an open-top bus from Dhaka Airport. After winning the SAAF title for the first time in the last edition, the girls of Bengal were felicitated in an open-top bus. They are getting the same honor this time too.

From the airport, the open-top bus carrying the Saffaye footballers will reach Buffe Bhavan via Expressway, FDC, Seven Street Junction, Moghbazar Flyover, Kakrail, Paltan, Notre Dame College, Shapla Chatwar.

Interim Government Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan will meet with the successful footballers at Bauffe Bhavan. An open-top bus of the Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) has been prepared to give the tigresses a grand welcome. Buff officials said that the champion footballers will be taken around the city in the bus.
