Saudi Arabia is giving a record number of visas to Bangladeshis

Saudi Arabia has announced issuing a record number of visas to Bangladeshi nationals this year, reflecting the growing ties between the two countries. The Kingdom’s decision to grant a historic number of visas has been hailed as a significant boost to the labor migration and tourism sectors.
According to the Saudi Embassy in Dhaka, more than 500,000 Bangladeshi workers and professionals have received visas in 2024, surpassing previous records. This increase is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader effort to meet its labor needs in various industries, from construction to healthcare, as the Kingdom pushes forward with its ambitious Vision 2030 transformation plan.

Bangladesh, a country with a population of over 160 million, has long been a major source of foreign workers for Saudi Arabia. The move is expected to help alleviate unemployment in Bangladesh and provide families with increased financial support through remittances.
In addition to the work visas, Saudi Arabia has also issued many tourist and visit visas for Bangladeshi nationals, aiming to foster cultural exchange and strengthen bilateral ties. Many Bangladeshis are now also exploring the opportunity to visit Saudi Arabia for tourism, religious pilgrimages, and family reunifications.
The Saudi government’s decision to grant a record number of visas follows multiple discussions between Saudi officials and Bangladeshi leaders to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including trade, security, and people-to-people exchanges.
This historic visa allocation is expected further to cement the longstanding relationship between the two countries and provide new opportunities for economic growth and social welfare for both nations.
