Snowstorm strikes the US northeast, canceling over 1,000 flights and disrupting daily life
Massive waves smashed onto the New England coastline as a swiftly moving winter storm pummeled Northeastern towns with snowfall, bringing New York City schools back to the early days of the pandemic with glitchy remote learning.
While there were reports of accidents on slick roads resulting in at least one fatality, airlines cancelled or postponed flights.
The storm moved across the area swiftly, leaving considerable amounts of snow in certain areas and far less than anticipated in others. The National Weather Service said that while Central Park in New York City received only 3 inches (7.62 cm) of snow, other parts of Pennsylvania and Connecticut received 15 inches (38.10 cm) of fluffy snow.

Many people were outraged when the largest school system in the country, located in New York City, decided against providing staff and students with a snow day in favor of remote learning. And to make matters worse, many of the 915,000 students were unable to log in when classes started due to technical issues.
With a school wide read-aloud, PS 112 in East Harlem got off to a positive start for its virtual school day, according to teacher Jessica Roach. Nevertheless, a series of technological issues bewildered her young special education children and irritated their parents over the remainder of the morning as educators and families attempted to enter the district’s domain.
She claimed that many kids lost out because of technical issues.
A parent in Queens named Chong Bertillon reported that despite chatting with numerous other parents who were having the same issues, she kept getting errors when attempting to enter a Zoom room for her elementary school student. Bertillon remarked, I just tried to log in and log out for almost an hour. Everyone feels irritated.
Mayor Eric Adams of New York defended the choice to implement remote learning in schools, citing the corona virus pandemic’s detrimental effects on student learning.
Tuesday morning saw the cancellation of over 1,000 flights, the most of which were at airports in Boston and the New York City region. Numerous states outlawed the use of tandem and empty tractor-trailers on their roadways, and accidents were reported all over the region.
Tracking website power outage .US, there were thousands of outages in New Jersey and over 145,000 power outages in Pennsylvania on Tuesday morning, but not many in New York or New England.
